We can has new photos on our walls

The photos are a collaraborative project by a bunch of weirdos who call themselves “Be Trigger Happy”. Think: ageing boyband (sans tight pants), carrying dSLR cameras, instead of microphones.

To find out more about said weirdos, click here.

See, we told you. Weirdos.

Hohoho DINOSAUR Hohoho GODZILLA HoHoHorlicks

HoHoHorlicks Pancakes
photograph © Hansel Tan / hanshoots

Thank you for the lovely photo, Hans. (Yes, it is THE Hansel of “Hansel’s Meatball Pasta” fame and THE same Hansel of “dude in the cow t-shirt” fame.)

We can’t remember how we got to know Hansel now. Well, apparently, it all started with Hansel winning a wagyu burger Haiku contest. To be completely honest, we’d completely forgotten about this if slugphile Bee Kay hadn’t brought it up last week. Bee Kay, apparently, was rather surprised Hansel could write Haiku, much less win a Haiku contest “coz he’s so not the wordsmith sort”. (Note to Bee Kay: Hansel can has hidden talentz, hokay!) Hurhur.

Anyhoo. Before you begin to suspect this post really isn’t going anywhere. You’re right, it isn’t supposed to be about Hansel but we thought we’d give some airtime to the man who consistently orders a meatball pasta . every . single . time . he comes by.

>> Back to regular programming >>

You may or may not know, after much blackmail over Twitter, we’ve finally made pancakes a permanent menu item. You can find it under “All Day Breakfasts” and yez, it iz availablez all-day-long coz generally that’s what All Day meanz. Who’s to say you can’t have pancakes at 2.56pm, right? Right. If anyone judges you, you tell us, we go beat them up.

Where was I? *looks at post title for clues*

Pancakes! We have a different pancake flavour every week. So far we’ve had Nian Gao (Sticky Cake), Pearncakes (Pear Pancakes, geddit? Geddit?) and Azuki Bean.

This week Joseph Slug (a.k.a. Pancakemeister) brings us… HoHoHoHorlicks Pancakes!

Available in two options:
• DINOSAUR ~ HoHoHorlicks Pancakes + more Horlicks on top
• GODZILLA ~ HoHoHorlicks Pancakes + scoop of Vanilla Gelato + more Horlicks on top

Some good ol’ old skool Ho Ho Ho-ing for the coming week (also for the benefit of those who may not know where all this Ho Ho Ho-ing is coming from…)

Demystifying the dSLR

Learn How to Shoot Like the Pros. And by Pros we mean Professionals. But you knew that.

Hansel Tan (Shooting like the Pros - basics of dSLR)

Hansel Tan (yep, the dude pictured above with a cow on his t-shirt) is a veteran tutor, self-taught photography enthusiast & fellow slugphile. If you bump into him here at TGS (or anywhere for that matter), just say “Hi” and ask about photography stuff hokay? — [[don't say "Hey aren't you that dude in the cow t-shirt?"]]

Anyway. He will most happily discuss bodies & lenses with you over a meatball pasta. <– We’ve named the pasta after him. True story.

But there’s only so much photography knowledge one can impart over a meatball pasta, right? Right.

So. If you have a dSLR & have always wondered what those fiddly buttons & settings are for — Hansel is conducting two runs of “Shooting like the Pros – basics of dSLR photography” right here at The Garden Slug.

Hansel takes a systematic, perhaps almost scientific, approach in learning the fundamentals of photography.

Classes will be over 4 hours (2 hours weekday + 2 hours weekend) and there will be 2 runs of the class.

There will be none of that frou-frou “O, it’s all about having the EYE for it” kind of talk. Hansel takes a systematic, perhaps almost scientific, approach in learning the fundamentals of photography.

Classes will be over 4 hours (2hrs weekday + 2hrs weekend) and there will be 2 runs of the class.

Give me those Krispy Kremes!!

Last night at The Garden Slug… Shaun slug walks into the kitchen with a box of Krispy Kreme donuts.  Seeing the familiar polka-dotted box, Joe and Sophia let out a collective 100 decibel , ” WAHHHHHHHHH!!! ” In response to that, Shaun said, ” Nicholina left this for Sharon, I’ll keep it in the chiller for her..”  Joe and Sophia then let out a collective sigh, ” Ohhhhhhhhhh…” But we’re meeting Sharon Slug this afternoon to do the R&D for the new Hearty Pineapple Tarts..  Hehe, will convince Sharon Slug to share her donut stash. :-0  Thank You Nicholina for lugging these precious babies all the way from K.L. !

A Sluggy Christmas Story

Gosh, this blog post is oh-so-belated….  Remember our Xmas Kits 2009? ( I know, I know..that was sooo last year.. haha) The kitchen slugs were working close to 20 hours per day watching Turkey TV and stirring stew pots…So, imagine how touched we were when 4 slug fans friends actually came with gifts of love to thank us for our effort. We’re truly floored!

First, Nicholinabrought her dad’s famous roast pork! And gave us Royce Champagne chocolates on Boxing Day… She obviously found our weak spot(s)!

Royce Chocolates from Nicholina!

And then, Yvonne came with MANY Xmas stockings of Yuletide sweets :-) [thanks for the pics, Kenny!]

Santa Yvonne came bearing gifts of socks!

As if that isn”t enough big love, Good ol’ Nicholas and Clare came to cook us Wagyu steaks for dinner!!! Those steaks were delish! I’m sure Sharon slug will second that opinion. Sorry Nick & Clare, that I was running all over the store with steak in my mouth.. Haha.. :-0

Thank You everybody for making us feel like we have made a teeny tiny difference to your holidays. You sure did make a difference to OURS ! May 2010 be a fabulous year for everybody :-)
