There is nothing more exciting and more fun than a food-related project. Well, to us, at least.

shareURmeal Singapore is a community campaign from 22 – 28 August 2011 to raise awareness about the plight of low-income families in Singapore.

There is no donation involved on your end. So, what can we all do to help? Just take a photo (or two, or twenty!) of what you’re eating.

Very simply, here’s what happens ~~ for every photo you send in, the sponsor donates $3.00 to TOUCH Community Services.

That’s it.

No catch.

TOUCH then uses the sponsor’s donation for their food programme that targets needy & low-income families.

Indeed, it is easy as 1-2-3, yes?

1) Take a photo of any meal you’re having (doesn’t have to be a TGS meal!)

3) Tell others to do it too

We will be at Hong Lim Park for an amazing event called PinkDot. We hope to see you there too!

Business as usual from 9.00am tomorrow (Sunday 19/6/2011).

Every year we show our support for PinkDot by putting up a poster or two, blogging about it, and maybe sponsoring something or other.

This year, we are going to do something different. We are coming out, and we are making a statement.

The Garden Slug is closing shop today, a Saturday, to support The Freedom To Love by having the entire team attend PinkDot. Yes, all twenty of us will be there.

This. Is. BIG. Hokay? ‘Coz we never, never, never, never, ever close shop on a SATURDAY, yo.

We are proud to say that our team of Slugs comprises smart & passionate people from all walks of life, we welcome anyone as long as they’re willing to work hard. Same goes for the way we treat our customers – we don’t care whether you are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or heterosexual. We welcome you without discrimination. (Oh, except when you have noisy, unruly children we really wish you’d go away. But ah well, even rude, ugly children shouldn’t be discriminated against. Here’s to democracy & having the freedom to breed.)

We’re also really excited about today because we are taking this opportunity to make this a team outing!

We printed and ironed-on the t-shirt artwork ourselves. Actually the printer ran out of ink, but we think it looks kinda trendy

We’re also sponsoring a Pink Drink for the event. The first 2,000 registrants will get our homemade sekret recipe Pink Drink HEHE, so come early!

We hope to see some if not all of you today too. Seriously, dude, it’s 2011. We reckon we no longer have to “fight” for acceptance, and that most Singaporeans are really cool about having lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and heterosexual family members. No seriously, a lot of you have straight friends & family and you sekretly (or openly) think they’re kinda weird and gross right? Listen to us – don’t be a**hole. Straight people were born that way, okay?

The Garden Slug is proud to support TWC2 (Transient Workers Count Too) and HOME (Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics).

Why? Because TGS itself is owned, operated & staffed by a healthy mixture of local & foreign talent. The cause is one that is very close to our hearts.

We all get along really well with each other here at TGS, regardless of our backgrounds. We have fun, we have our ups & down, we treat each other like family.

We are aware, however, not all foreigners have it so good.

Being a cosmopolitan migrant society, it is shameful that not many of our foreign worker friends are being treated right in Singapore.

As part of our ongoing Commitment to Social Responsibility programme:
1) For TWC2, we translated their sixteen-page SMS helpline from English to Chinese.
TWC2 will also be doing up Tamil, Indonesian, Malay and Tagalog SMS helplines as soon as they trial run the effectiveness of the Chinese version.

2) We crafted & sponsored Brownie Popsicles for H.O.M.E.’s volunteer event (tomorrow!)

Meet Wangwang!

He is a mid-sized adult male dog who looks like a Japanese Shiba and mongrel cross. He is a little hard of hearing and his eye sight isn’t tip top, but otherwise he is in perfect health ( The vet has given him a clean bill of health)
