The Garden Slug is proud to support TWC2 (Transient Workers Count Too) and HOME (Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics).

Why? Because TGS itself is owned, operated & staffed by a healthy mixture of local & foreign talent. The cause is one that is very close to our hearts.

We all get along really well with each other here at TGS, regardless of our backgrounds. We have fun, we have our ups & down, we treat each other like family.

We are aware, however, not all foreigners have it so good.

Being a cosmopolitan migrant society, it is shameful that not many of our foreign worker friends are being treated right in Singapore.

As part of our ongoing Commitment to Social Responsibility programme:
1) For TWC2, we translated their sixteen-page SMS helpline from English to Chinese.
TWC2 will also be doing up Tamil, Indonesian, Malay and Tagalog SMS helplines as soon as they trial run the effectiveness of the Chinese version.

2) We crafted & sponsored Brownie Popsicles for H.O.M.E.’s volunteer event (tomorrow!)

Do check out the TWC2 and HOME websites & give in whatever ways you can

Let’s not just tolerate, let’s embrace diversity.

Sorry about the horrid rhyming.. I’ve yet to shake off the melatonin stupor.. Apples!! Yes, this is our latest community project for www.projectkyrie.com Last week, Nicholas ( sweetest sweetheart this side of the east and he cooks too! ) asked us if we are keen to participate in a soup kitchen programme, where they feed 200+ needy folks twice per mth. They’ve already found someone to provide the food, so we thought apples may be a good addition to a well-rounded meal. Off I went to the wholesale market and loaded 2 cartons of these juicy babies into the slime-green slug mobile..

The people who manage Projectkyrie are mainly Catholics, but they truly embrace diversity.. The needy folks who benefit from this food programme are from all religions, race and creed. There is no discrmination whatsoever. We like !

Only 3 more days to National Day… I’ve always appreciated the peace in Singapore, so let’s take it 1 step further, and truly celebrate diversity too!

Peace~om~Peace.

The good people from Zurina Bryant Photography studio just sent us these lovely pics.. The “lovely” would refer to Zurina of course.. Check out how resplendant she looked in that pink dress!

Check out our wane ( and sweaty..) expressions.. we had to lug the gawd-heavy slug wares up and down 2 flights of stairs which were cobbled and uneven.. Yup, no elevators at Oldschool.. But it was all worth it !!

Well, Joe slug and I DID turn out in pink actually. Joe claimed that the argyle print on his polo T is pink…. and I was wearing my electric pink sneakers..

Glam people in pink ! quite “Tatler” we thought.. Erm.. is that a lady in a B&W polka-dotted frock? Wrong party you are at, darrrling… ( unless of course you’ve got pink accessories that we can’t see… Eh eh, you naughty slugphiles…. stop all that imagining ok? I am referring to pink sneakers like mine, of course ! wahahahah !! I kill me ! )
