Laine’s Papeterie

We welcome another new neighbour to Bright Centre: Laine’s Papeterie , two floors up at #03-55.

Laine’s Papeterie is a “cosy and intimate gift and scrapbooking boutique”. It is owned and operated by two sisters, Elaine and Sharon. (yes we know, we have an Elaine and a Sharon at The Garden Slug too! How confusing!)

We were honoured to be given the opportunity to cater for their opening party today. Actually it was more of a “little studio warming event” for their creative collaborators, hence they wanted something simple yet elegant.

They’re really nice people and they have some really snazzy stuff - scrapbooking to preserve memories and such. Check them out soon okay!

Here are some photos from the event.

This is Sophia our Star Cook

Yes, she’s the Recipe Engineer extraordinaire at The Garden Slug. If you love our food, all credit goes to her.

I’d even go so far as to say she’s a bit of a genius. That might explain why she often looks stressed out and perhaps even somewhat eccentric (not eccentric-weird, but eccentric-cute).

A friend of ours just sent us this photo of Sophia goofing around at a dinner party some time last year. A rare sight, and we’re glad it was caught on camera!

sophia goofing around

Recently, our Star Cook got herself a brand new haircut! So good-looking neh… We heard that someone gave Sophia their mobile number right after she walked out of the hair salon! Woo hoo! You go girl. Not only are you our Star Cook, you’re now our resident heartthrob!
new hairdo, new life

Haircut or no haircut, we are so lucky to have you at The Garden Slug.

Texture: Hair and Nail Lab

A hair salon literally sprang up overnight just next door to us. They’re about our age (read: YOUNG! hehe).

Today was their first day of business, and they held their opening ceremony at our humble little diner for about 40 guests.

Okay, less talk, more photos! [ click on image to enlarge ]
wasuuuuuuuuuuga!

Our signature Wasuga Wings resting atop sliced tomatoes with touch of rosemary to make them wings look purdy.

Tasty nibbles

Grilled chicken, tomatoes, cheese, bread. You can’t go wrong. Try it at home!

Mmm. Salmon.

Enough of the wholesome, rustic stuff. We decided to go a bit upmarket with this one. Mm hmm.

Crowd pleasers.

Polish Sausage Kebabs! Always the crowd pleasers.

Not alcoholic enough to get you tipsy.

Pretty tiramisu maidens, sitting in a row.

Brownie Popsicles make you pop.

Our signature Brownie Popsicles, standing like soldiers!

Demure. So demure.

Bite-sized Peach Cheesecake, looking so demure.

It was fun, fun, fun for everyone.

Thank you Leo and Ginn for choosing to open your shop at Telok Kurau and for holding your opening buffet at our place. Welcome to the neighbourhood!

We hope our friends, blog readers, and customers will come check them out too. All in the spirit of supporting young entrepreneurs! :-)
