Well, here’s what it looked like from the greedy slug’s viewpoint: YUMMY!

Mmmm, look at the juicy prawn! I think the greedy slug takes more appetising photos (at least for today!), even though it has an ancient cameraphone. (hello, nobody wants to see pictures of a greedy slug stuffing its face, right?!)

If you stare hard enough, you can see the reflection of said greedy slug.

… with pan-seared Prawns & Mushrooms in a rosemary tomato sauce.

Yep, that’s our Special for this weekend. It’s a little bit sweet, and the rosemary brings a wonderful fragrance to the dish. The sauce is light, not meant to be too clingy or starchy. We can always do away with the rosemary if you’re not a fan of it. Anything is customisable!
We always sample our own food before it gets to be on the menu/ Today’s Special, and we give each other feedback on how the dish can be improved before the final product is presented to our diners.
Sharon is usually the happiest participant in our food tasting sessions. Today, thanks to my stealth photography skills, we caught Sharon Greedy Slug in action!

Tsk tsk. Look at that happy greedy slug. The glasses had to come off ‘cos it was fogging up from the steam!

Say Hi to Super R ( otherwise known by her earthly name of Rachel hehe) - Linda & Janice
Here’s the low down on the 3 lovelies.. Rachel is a IT geek-extraordinare who has a special gift for taking pictures that are intentionally/ unintentionally on soft focus. Her special talent is eating pasta with her dessert platter simulataneously. On a serious note- Thanks for bringing your friends to our humble lil’ joint and being so supportive..We love u Super R!
Hiya Linda ! Linda’s from the faraway ( brokeback) mountains tucked in Canada and hey, she’s an IT guru too! Nah, she’s actually from cosmopolitan Vancouver. Nearly got you there!
We seem to be meeting so many IT gurus of late.. The lucky girl just visisted Angko Wat last week, am terribly jealous! ( ** Jessie- when are we going again!? It’s been 5 years post Cambodia! **)
And finally meet Janice. The strong and silent one.. She’s pretty much an exponent in rock climbing I heard. We like macho maidens, truly! ( The only climbing the slugs have been doing of late is climbing out of bed , fashionably toussled bedhead included haha )
These 3 lovelies came all the way from the West to dine with us at The Garden Slug, and we’re really flattered
And guess what ? Super R is popping by tonite with her gang from her office. We’re truly floored !

My futile attempt at cameraphone photography.
I was trying to show that we use fresh (not the freeze-dried, canned ones) white button mushrooms in our hearty soup for today.
Oh well.

Ernie sent us this picture of the Grilled Brazilian Lambchops that she and a friend had one evening.
It has now made its way to the front page of our newly revamped homepage.
It helps that the photo was taken with a 4 megapixel camera (I only have a rather tragic Nokia 6101, which produces the very grainy, pseudo-artistic shots you see here sometimes).
We’d like to thank everyone who commented, e-mailed and texted us your suggestions for our new homepage layout as well as our menu items. But don’t stop here okay? Let’s keep the conversation going.

The best part about being a small diner is that we get to make people happy.
Charlie & Rose ordered a not-too-sweet strawbery mousse cake for their N-th wedding anniversary. They’re not telling us their age, but we’re guessing it’s the age where they’re not supposed to eat too many sweet things…

Due to popular demand, we’re making our Brazilian Lambchops (Marinated in a wine and garlic sauce, served with chunky mint pesto dip) a permanent item in our menu.
Some other exciting additions to the family:
Battered Ocean Hake - firm-fleshed white fish in a light batter, served with homemade tartare sauce
The Ultimate Steak sandwich- 250 grams of premium Ribeye grilled to perfection, clasped between 2 slices of toasted bread- layered with buttered mushrooms and gooey mozarella cheese
Grilled Buttermilk chicken with Orange glaze - Pan-grilled tender boneless chicken glazed with a light citrusy sauce
Mushroom Munchkins - plump, battered button mushrooms with wholegrain honey mustard sauce by side
Stove-top Tomatoes with Mozzarella - tomato halves grilled to sweet perfection, topped with melted Mozzarella and a splash of Balsamico
Just to name a few.
The entire menu is available for download here:

Faizah started off with a simple breathing exercise. A quick sampler of how proper breathing technique can calm a person down and help one deal with anger, hurt, stress…

Affable John explaining on what can be done to make a household more Vaastu-compliant…

And of course, everyone listened with rapt attention to Sheila R. on how to dispel nightmares with salt water and other stories.
We had a bigger turnout than expected. The event also lasted longer than expected as our guests stayed on to mingle, exchange namecards as well as help themselves to more food & drinks.
Stay tuned for food p0rn from Sophia the Recipe Engineer!

Preparation is under way for our Holistic event tonight. There will be a cosy turnout of 15 people or so.

Sheila R. is already here, having her favourite Grilled Chicken with Orange glaze and copious amounts of Lemongrass Iced Tea (she has the same thing everytime, all the time).
She looks like she’s meditating on what she’ll be presenting tonight. Hmmm, no, I think she’s just had too much Lemongrass Iced Tea.
So excited. Can’t wait!
